Energy Informatics for Climate-Constrained Transitions: From Climate Necessity to Institutional Feasibility 2026 brings together climate science, system modeling, and institutional governance to explore how climate-constrained energy pathways are translated into real-world system transformation. Hosted in Beijing, participants move from Day 1's physical and carbon constraints to Day 2's digital, regulatory, and governance feasibility, gaining a cross-scale perspective that connects China-focused climate transition analysis with European expertise in digital energy governance.

Webinar- Digital technologies for energy efficiency and decarbonization in mining

IEA IETS Annex Task XVIII Sub Task 3 Webinar 2022 series

Abstract: Several mining companies have set targets for net zero emissions by 2050 while there is an increase in the demand for minerals to facilitate the transition towards clean energy. Concurrently, digital technologies such as automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Internet of Things (IoT) are transforming the way the mining and metals industry operates. An overview of some of the current digital technologies implemented in the mining sector and their reported benefits will be presented to highlight their potential impact on sustainability and decarbonization of the industry.

Presenter: Osama Asa’d, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan)

Osama Asa'd is an energy technologist with the Natural Resources Canada-CanmetMINING team in Sudbury, Canada. He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Dalhousie university. His focus is to improve energy efficiency/management in the mining sector. Osama has worked on several projects aiming to reduce energy use and GHG emissions in mining operations.

The industrial & PhD summer school in Energy Informatics 2022 aims to support company employees and doctoral students in their competence development. Kick-off meeting of IEA IETS Annex XVIII sub-Task 3: Lessons learned, and value created with digitalization

Sub-task 3 is part of the IEA IETS Task XVIII: Digitalization, Artificial Intelligence and Related Technologies for Energy Efficiency and GHG Emissions Reduction in Industry. The kick-off meeting introduce the main objectives in this sub-task, and invites seven speakers from industry, governmental agencies, and research institutes to share their projects related to digitalization in industry.
